A competition was held for the most entertaining "mistake" made or witnessed by a delegate or speaker. The prize, of a trendy micro scooter, was awarded at the dinner on the Tuesday night:

The runners up were:

George Chalos of Chalos Law Firm:

"Coming here with my father !!! (Michael Chalos)"

Andrew Lansdale of Galbraiths:

"One of our owners' Engineers ordered 6 x 300 degrees thermometers. He got 12 x 150 degrees thermometers. Does he screw two together?"

And the winner was Janet McFee, of the London Shipping Consultancy, with the following confession:

"As a gullible, naive trainee broker, I mistook a Greek broker for a principal - on giving him lunch, I was "broked" into letting him buy me dinner. When I later heard him apologise first to my bosses and then to his wife that he couldn't make dinner because he was meeting his client, I was relieved, until I discovered I was the "client"! We met, whereupon he gave me his bulky apartment key to look after. However, during dinner I extricated myself from the situation and went home with his key! I would love to have been a fly on the wall later, when he tried to get back into his service apartment. SERVES HIM RIGHT!"
